Healthy Digital Habits

Silver Star and West Ada Education Foundation’s alliance to build healthier relationships with students and technology.

Today, we are proud to announce our partnership with the West Ada Education Foundation. At Silver Star, we believe that technology should empower our ability to connect with each other and not hamper it. In-person human connections make life meaningful and should be the centerpiece of our social existence. Despite our goal to provide the best in high-speed internet access, through the development of fiber optic infrastructure, we also champion a healthy balance between time spent online and time spent forging relationships with those around us. Our goal is to create a world where everyone is connected, and that starts with prioritizing in-person interactions.

This 3-year commitment started developing earlier this year when our Silver Star President, Barbara Sessions, and Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Christy Jenkins, met with West Ada Education Foundation for a quick visit. During that visit, discussions about how we can support our growing communities led to an offer that embodies the values Silver Star and the school district share.

“We were approached by the West Ada Education Foundation to do a small back to school sponsorship, and it blossomed into something much larger and ultimately led us to being a key sponsor. We complement each other very well and the visions we have align.” said Jenkins.

It’s a core value of Silver Star to Lift Where You Stand. Whether it’s encouraging students to take screen breaks or engage with people face-to-face, we want to stand and lift together with West Ada’s fantastic educators to promote a future where our children will grow into healthy happy people who utilize these powerful tools with responsibility.

“We want to support programs that teach tech and much more. It is important that we help wherever we can while promoting this message of organic connection. The goal is to encourage students to utilize devices like phones in a more thoughtful way.” Said Sessions.

The West Ada Education Foundation strives to bring opportunities to every student in the district that benefit them inside and out of the classroom. Our world is becoming more reliant on leveraging every new technological advancement. Teaching principles of moderation and safety while giving students opportunities to utilize these tools is paramount to their future success.

“The West Ada Education Foundation is excited to partner with Silver Star, whose commitment to students and educators aligns with our mission. Their investment in our schools reflects a true dedication to community, and we look forward to the positive impact this partnership will bring across the district.” said Jamie Burton, the executive director of the West Ada Education Foundation.

Together we want to encourage everyone to take time and focus on those around them. We want our students to grow up with healthy boundaries and strong minds. We are excited to support West Ada School District for the next three years and look forward to the events and stories that will come from this partnership.
