We invite graduating seniors to apply for a Silver Star Scholarship as well as to scholarship programs we support through industry associations.
Please take careful note of the different deadlines and methods of submission for each individual scholarship. If an application is not received, eligibility for an award is deemed to be waived.
Silver Star Scholarship
Any graduating senior in the following Silver Star service areas is eligible to apply:
Jackson/Teton County, Soda Springs, Star Valley, Swan Valley and Teton Valley, Idaho. Awards are based on demonstrated need, scholastic achievement and extracurricular activities. Completed applications may be turned in to either the student’s high school counseling office or to Nicole Astle in the Thayne, Wyoming Executive Office.
Other Available Scholarships:
Wyoming Telecommunications Association (WYTA) Scholarships WYTA provides three kinds of scholarships: one for students already enrolled in higher education (Continuing Needs Scholarship) and two for graduating high school seniors who desire to further their education. Applicants must be graduating from a Wyoming high school and they or their parents/guardians must be a customer of Silver Star Communications. Please review the scholarship information sheet carefully and note that applications must be received by WYTA in Cheyenne by April 17, 2020 for the Academic and Financial Needs Scholarships and June 15, 2020 for the Continuing Needs Scholarship.

FRS Scholarship – 2021 Application Available!
This is a national scholarship program for rural youth offered through the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA). Should a student from our service area be selected to receive one of the 30 scholarships ($2,000 each), we will contribute an additional $500 to the scholarship, bringing the total one-time scholarship award to $2,500.
Students – please visit the Foundation for Rural Service website for full instructions on how to create an account and for all necessary materials required to apply.
- Completed applications should submitted online directly to FRS no later than March 5, 2021.
- You will be required to select a NTCA member to sponsor your scholarship application. Please select SILVER STAR COMMUNICATIONS – FREEDOM, WY – COMPANY #51501.
