Are Fiber and "Air Fiber" the Same?
No, fiber and “air fiber” offered by some providers are not the same. Fiber is capable of speeds up to 5Gbps per household and is a direct, wired connection. “Air Fiber” is a name that has been given to wireless internet, which is capable of lower speeds, experiences interference problems and slow downs when exposed to weather, high internet usage in your area, and other factors that true fiber is unaffected by.
5Gbps vs. 5G
5Gbps and 5G may sound like they mean the same thing, but there are actually significant differences between the two products. 5Gbps refers to the download and upload speed that your internet connection is capable of, whereas 5G refers to the kind of network that cellular devices use.
The 5G cellular network is capable of speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps, and plans offered for 5G wireless internet are often capped, meaning your speeds are throttled after you hit a usage cap for the month.
5Gbps fiber internet is capable of speeds up to 5 Gbps, with unlimited data usage and more reliability since it is wired directly to your home.
