Scholarships

The dreams and aspirations of our region’s students inspire us!

We invite graduating seniors to apply for a Silver Star Scholarship as well as to scholarship programs we support through industry associations.

Please take careful note of the different deadlines and methods of submission for each individual scholarship. If an application is not received, eligibility for an award is deemed to be waived.

Silver Star Scholarship - 2026 Application Available!

Any graduating senior in the following Silver Star service areas is eligible to apply between February 1st – March 31st

Applications for the 2026 Silver Star Scholarship are now being accepted.  Any graduating senior within the Company’s service territory is eligible to apply.  Awards are based on demonstrated need, scholastic achievement and personal life balance.

The deadline for submitting applications is Tuesday, March 31, 2026; completed applications may emailed to nastle@silverstar.net or mailed to Silver Star Communications, Attn: Nicole Astle, P.O. Box 226 Freedom, WY 83120.  If an application is not received, eligibility for an award is deemed to be waived.

FRS Scholarship - 2026 Application Available!

This is a national scholarship program for rural youth entering their first year of college or vocational school offered through the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA). Should a student from our service area be selected to receive one of the 30 scholarships ($2,000 each), we will contribute an additional $500 to the scholarship, bringing the total one-time scholarship award to $2,500.

  • The scholarship applications are digital. Please visit the FRS website for full instructions on how to create an account and for all necessary materials required to apply. 
  • Completed applications should submitted online directly to FRS no later than February 16, 2026.
  • You will be required to select a NTCA member to sponsor your scholarship application.  Please select SILVER STAR COMMUNICATIONS – FREEDOM, WY – COMPANY #51501.
