Silver Star is committed to supporting the dreams and aspirations of our region’s students through our own scholarship program as well as scholarship programs we support through industry associations.
Please take careful note of the different deadlines and methods of submission for each individual scholarship. If an application is not received, eligibility for an award is deemed to be waived.
Silver Star Scholarship
Any graduating senior within Silver Star’s service territory is eligible to apply. Awards are based on demonstrated need, scholastic achievement and extracurricular activities.
Due Monday, March 31st, 2014
Other Available Scholarships:
National scholarship program for rural youth offered through the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA). Should a student from our service area be selected to receive one of the 30 scholarships ($2,000 each), we will contribute an additional $500 to the scholarship, bringing the total one-time scholarship award to $2,500.
Completed applications should be sent directly to FRS, postmarked no later than March 2, 2015. A signature from Allen R Hoopes, CEO of Silver Star Communications is also required for the application. Please make arrangements with Nicole Astle, 307-883-6652. Please do not leave this to the last minute as Mr. Hoopes travels frequently, sometimes for more than a week at a time.
Hamilton Relay Scholarship
This post-secondary scholarship supports students who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking. Must live in Silver Star’s Idaho service area to be eligible. Deadline: March 2, 2015.
Robert V. Killion Scholarship
A $1,000 Scholarship will be awarded to a qualified student from Idaho, Montana, or Wyoming. The fund was created to honor USDA – Rural Utilities Service Field Representative, Robert V. Killion, who passed away in 2001 in a logging accident.
