Silver Star Begins Regional Fiber Buildout Using Fiberhoods

Thayne, WY, April 13, 2020 – Silver Star has announced its 2020 “Fiberhoods” – neighborhoods slated to receive Fiber to the Home as part of their previously announced 10-year, $100 M investment. These Fiberhoods are in Alpine, Auburn, Osmond, Fairview and Thayne, Wyoming, and Driggs, Irwin, and Victor, Idaho. The areas designated for fiber build-out in 2020 are visible on Silver Star’s website. Visit SilverStar.com and click on “Fiberhood Finder” to see maps of the areas that will receive fiber this year.

“In spite of the pandemic and the hardships it has brought, we are still excited about our plans to expand our fiber network. Fast and reliable broadband service has proven to be more vital than ever to keep us all connected to the things that matter most,” said Silver Star COO, Barbara Sessions. “Our engineers have identified the Fiberhood areas, the contractors are in place, and we are ready to get started in the April/May timeframe, while continuing to follow public health safety guidelines. It feels great to be moving forward with bringing the ultimate internet experience to our customers.”

“The Fiberhood platform on our new website is going to allow us to connect with customers in a way that Silver Star has not done before. This initiative will drive where we deliver cutting edge internet services in 2020 and beyond,” Sessions added.

Residents of designated Fiberhoods can sign up online, allowing Silver Star to work with customers on the next steps before construction and installation begins. The Fiberhood Finder tool on the Silver Star website allows residents to see what percentage of their neighborhood has signed up. Because of the short, seasonal construction window in the region, Silver Star wants to encourage residents of the 2020 Fiberhoods to sign up as soon as possible that they can begin construction as soon as conditions allow.

If you don’t live in a 2020 Fiberhood, you can still let Silver Star know that you want fiber by filling out a Fiber Interest Form and encouraging neighbors to do the same. Planning for 2021 is already underway, and interest from potential customers will be factored into Silver Star’s planning for future stages of the project.
