West Idaho Area Service Impact Update

We are pleased to inform you that the remaining issues with Hulu, Disney+, Discovery+, and Paramount+ have been resolved. If you are still experiencing any geo-location issues with any other streaming services, please text or chat with us.

Our team is diligently working with third-party geolocation providers to update their databases. Reports show that HBO and Netflix are now working correctly. However, Hulu, Disney, Discovery+, and Paramount are still experiencing issues. We are making steady progress and remain committed to resolving this as quickly as possible.

We want to inform you about a recent update that may impact your streaming services and how Silver Star is addressing the situation.

Our team continues to diligently work with third-party geolocation providers to update their databases. While Hulu, Disney, Discovery+, Paramount, and HBO are still experiencing issues, we are making steady progress and remain committed to resolving this as quickly as possible. We understand the importance of your streaming services and appreciate your patience as we work through these challenges. Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to expedite the resolution. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

What’s Happening?

Silver Star has deployed a new IP Subnet in the West Idaho area. This update was necessary to ensure continued and improved service for our customers. However, some streaming providers, like Hulu and Netflix, have started using IP address geolocation instead of zip codes or physical addresses to determine your location. This change is primarily aimed at preventing password sharing across different households.

The Issue

Geolocation services are not standardized. Each streaming provider has its own methods and timelines for updating their databases. Unfortunately, this can result in incorrect location information being used, which may affect your access to certain content.

What We’re Doing

  • Database Updates: We have updated all necessary databases under our control.
  • Geofeed Deployment: We maintain a geofeed to ensure accurate location information for providers that support it.
  • Proactive Measures: Our Network team is actively contacting major geolocation providers to correct any discrepancies.

What This Means for You

If you experience issues with streaming services due to incorrect geolocation, please be assured that we are working diligently to resolve these issues. The time it takes for updates to reflect can vary from provider to provider, and unfortunately, we do not have control over these timelines.

Moving Forward

We are committed to ensuring a smooth and reliable service for all our customers. Our team is continuously learning from these experiences and is exploring new ways to mitigate such issues in the future.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these challenges. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer success team.
