Established in 1994, the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS), in cooperation with the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA), seek to sustain and enhance the quality of life throughout Rural America by advancing an understanding of rural telecommunications issues.  In keeping with its mission, furthering the education of rural youth is one of the foundation’s primary focuses.  Silver Star Communications, is a member of NTCA and is proud to support FRS in this worthy endeavor.

As your local telecommunications service provider, Silver Star is pleased to offer this national scholarship program to the students in the areas we serve.  Should a student from our service area be selected to receive one of the 30 scholarships ($2,000 each), we will contribute an additional $500 to the scholarship, bringing the total one-time scholarship award to $2,500.

Applications can be downloaded here or from the FRS website at  Completed applications should be sent directly to FRS, postmarked no later than March 1, 2019.  Applications postmarked to FRS after this date will NOT  be accepted.

A signature from Allen R. Hoopes, CEO of Silver Star Communications, is also required on the application.  Please make arrangements for this with Nicole Astle, 307-883-6652.

We are very excited to bring this scholarship opportunity to our local schools!  Please help us make it a success by ensuring that all eligible students have an opportunity to apply.
