Community Service at the Jackson Cupboard
Community service is a part of our culture, here at Silver Star. Our company strives to make a difference in the communities in which we live and work.
Through our community service projects, our employees take a hands-on approach by providing support to local non-profits and community agencies to help accomplish projects or even just lend a hand when they need extra volunteers.
In short, we love to support a great cause! …Recently, we had the opportunity to send one of our Thayne community service teams – consisting of Bonnie Jackson, Deanna Clark, Brock Walters, and Deana Thomas – up to Jackson to lend a hand at the Jackson Cupboard.
Now, there’s a great cause!
What started out as an Eagle Scout project, turned into Jackson Hole’s Community Food Bank, opening it’s doors in 2001. It is a non-political, non-religious organization. The food bank operates off of 100% private donation and receives no government funding. Last year 95% of monetary donations were used to purchase food for their clientele.
In 2017, they served 5,000 people in need of food! …Wow!
The Cupboard not only offers food for children and adults, but a variety of other necessities including baby formula, hygiene products like; shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and some first-aid supplies as well as feminine hygiene products. And the Cupboard doesn’t forget the furry members of the family, they even supply pet food! We love that!
Our community service team stocked shelves, bagged dog food, and thoroughly cleaned the facilities to prepare for an event that evening where community members were invited to come and learn about what the Cupboard offers.
We thank the Jackson Cupboard for allowing us to be a very small part of the amazing work that they do to improve the lives of their community members! Cheers to you!
