Getting ready for winter with Teton Adaptive Sports

One of our Jackson-based community service teams linked up with Teton Adaptive Sports (TAS) to help them prepare for the winter season. The nonprofit is based in Teton Village and works to make recreational activities and sports available to people with disabilities living in and visiting the Greater Teton Area. Adaptive biking, skiing, kayaking, and ice hockey are among the adaptive sports offerings.

TAS works with community partners including Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Grand Targhee Resort, and various sports clubs. The work TAS does is far-reaching but they operate with a small staff. The Silver Star team helped with filing and organizing in the office as well as water proofing dozens of pairs of gloves that are used by volunteers and participants in winter programs.

“We enjoyed getting to spend the morning with Executive Director Christy Fox and learning more about all the different sports programming and people served,” reported team member Kim Billimoria. “TAS has an incredible impact on disabled people’s quality of life by helping them be active and outdoors.”
