Community Service for the Afton Food Pantry
On March 27th, Star Valley High School hosted the “Teachers vs. Students Basketball Game” to raise funds for the Afton Food Pantry and the Friday Food Bag Program. They were able to raise over $5400 to support the two programs!
Silver Star’s Community Service Team #16 was on hand to help with event set-up, taking money for entry and raffle tickets, and clean up. The team consisted of Nicole Astle, Ruby Hemmert, Steve Deyholos, Jeff Jensen, and Brett Anderson.
On April 29th, to conclude their service project, they went grocery shopping with the funds collected and delivered, dated and stocked the food items at the Afton Food Pantry.
The Afton Food Pantry has provided 117 families with food assistance in the short time they have been open. They continue to provide assistance to an average of 26 patrons a week.
We are very lucky to have such a great resource for local families in need.
We commend their efforts and are happy we could lend a hand for such a great cause!
