Thank you for joining us for another edition of our “Meet the Team” employee-focused web series. In this installment, we have the great pleasure of introducing you to Jason Hawkins, Operations Construction Supervisor!
In the relatively short time that Jason has been with us, he has worked his way into a supervisory role due to his intelligence, easy and humble nature, hard-work and attention to detail. He is truly customer-focused, driven to provide the best possible service to our customers. That concern for people and community carries through in other aspects of his work life as well, as he is passionate about giving back to the community. He is the first one to jump on any community service team and actively bring other community project ideas and opportunities to our attention. He also represents Silver Star at many of our sponsored events in Teton Valley, interacting with other community members and representing the Silver Star name.
He has been described by his co-workers as a true gentleman, in the truest sense of the word. In fact, when asked to describe Jason, every co-worker that was approached, smiled and had only the most positive and complimentary things to say about him. We are so very lucky to have him on our team!
Please join us in learning a little more about Jason in the interview below.
Interview with Jason Hawkins
How long have you worked for Silver Star?
May marks my third year with Silver Star Communications.
What does your job entail?
I supervise the Operations Construction Team. My group is responsible for the construction of all aspects of Silver Star’s outside plant. Our focus is the installation of new fiber and copper facilities and maintenance of our existing. When you see a Silver Star truck on the side of the road or onsite at a construction project, that’s usually one or more of my team members hooking up new service and/or performing maintenance to ensure our customers receive the best service possible.
What do you love most about your job?
The wins. Seeing my team come together to meet deadlines or a smile on a customer’s face after a new installation, those moments make all the hard work and long hours worth it.
What do you love most about the community you live in?
The people. A lot of the events and activities in Teton Valley, ID are run by non-profit organizations. Seeing the community come together to provide funding and the number of volunteers willing to give their time is just downright amazing.
What is something unique about you?
I really enjoy 90’s Hip-Hop. Not sure if most would pick up on that from a first impression but a Hip-Hop Dance Party has been known to break out on occasion at the Hawkins household.
What’s your favorite hobby?
It depends on the season. Winter weekend are spent up top at Targhee skiing and the nights are spent down at the Kotler Ice Arena playing hockey, with an occasional Ping-Pong match over at the Wild Wood Room. Summer season is playing golf, floating the river and whatever crazy adventure my wife plans up.
Fast Five – 5 questions fast!
What is your favorite summer activity?
What is your best childhood memory?
My Grandpa, a lot of good memories from that guy.
What chore do you hate doing?
Cleaning. I’m more of a straightener.
What is your dream car?
Some sort of AWD van.
Last band or artist that you listened to?
Trombone Shorty. You should check them out.
