For Immediate Release

October 27, 2022 Thayne, Wyoming – Columbine Telephone Company DBA Silver Star Communications announced today that the company has been awarded USDA Rural Utilities Service (RUS) grants to extend fiber optic cable to underserved areas in their service territory across Eastern Idaho.  The grant awards total $2.1 million, covering areas in Madison County.

Today’s announcement marks the second round of grants awarded through the ReConnect 3 project for Silver Star. As a regional leader in fiber optics, Silver Star continues to improve their legacy markets of Teton Valley, Star Valley & Swan Valley with fiber, while also pursuing grant opportunities, such as these USDA grants, to connect additional underserved rural areas.

“This project allows us to bring reliable multi-gigabit Fiber connectivity to the rural communities.
Allowing our families and small businesses the tools to access work, education and telehealth in today’s digital world,” said Elizabeth Acosta- McCune, VP of Sales & Marketing for Silver Star.
