Soda Springs, ID, May 7, 2020 – Silver Star Communications is announcing the sale of the Soda Springs, Idaho assets to Direct Communications. Direct is a Rockland, ID-based broadband company that has been a family-owned business since 1954. The company provides services across East Idaho from Bear Lake up to Rexburg.
“We appreciate the opportunity to serve the residents and businesses in Soda Springs over the years. We feel Direct Communications is in a great geographical position to serve Soda customers,” said Silver Star CEO, Allen Hoopes. “As we genuinely care about our customers and employees, this decision did not come lightly.”

We have been serving residents in all of the surrounding areas for a number of years, and we feel like this is a natural fit for us,” said Direct Communications General Manager, Tim May. “Here at Direct Communications, we are dedicated to the improvement of the communities that we provide service to. We are eager about the opportunity to bring our services to the residents of Soda Springs.”
Silver Star will retain the Henry and Wayan, Idaho exchange areas which will not be affected by the purchase. Silver Star will also maintain ownership of all mobile wireless services. The transition of the network and customers is expected to be completed by the end of May and customers should receive their first bill from Direct in June. Silver Star noted that all its Soda Springs employees are being retained and have positions within Silver Star.
