2011 Caring for Community Recipients
Silver Star Communications recently awarded donations to eighteen local non-profit groups in Teton, Star and Swan Valley. Awards are based on Silver Star’s social mission: to lead by example and support organizations whose mission it is to sustain the unique character of our community for future generations.
“With 29 applicants, requests exceeding $50,000 and all worthy projects, the decisions were difficult,” said Jennifer Brannen, marketing manager of Silver Star. Brannen went on to say “Silver Star strongly believes companies have a responsibility to support the organizations that work to make our communities healthy and sustainable.”
While all of the projects will benefit the community, there are several noteworthy examples. Teton Valley Health Care’s donation will fund a “MUST” program which educates individuals about prescription use, The Thayne Senior Citizen Center will purchase new tires for their meal delivery truck, and Teton Valley Trails and Pathways plans to purchase a Nordic groomer for their ski track in Driggs.
Additional recipients of the Caring for Community grant included Subs for Santa, the City of Tetonia’s Ruby Carson Memorial Park, Targhee Animal Shelter, Teton Arts Council, Teton Regional Land Trust, Teton Valley Rotary Food Bank, Teton Valley Education Foundation, Teton Valley Music Foundation, Slow Food in the Tetons and the Teton Valley Ski Education Foundation in Teton Valley and Lincoln Self Reliance, Star Valley Senior Citizens, Star Valley Therapeutic Activates & Riding, Swan Valley Custom Choppers, Star Valley Medical Center, Project Linus and Turning Point in Star Valley.
Silver Star would like to thank all applicants for supporting the community and working to improve the quality of life for Teton Valley residents. To learn more about the Caring for Community program and Silver Star’s sustainability efforts, visit www.silverstar.com.
