New, safer infield for Lions Park in Driggs

On May 30th, a team of Silver Star employees – including softball players and parents of softball players- upgraded the Lions Park softball field in Driggs. The group, one of about ten Silver Star community service teams, worked with the City of Driggs, which had just replaced the field’s backstop but still needed to upgrade the infield.
The city invested in high-quality red clay and Silver Star provided five employees for a full day of ripping up the existing infield and then spreading the new red clay. The city used a roller to flatten a lip between the infield and outfield, making the field safer as well.
“The other field in town used to be the better one but now everyone wants to play their games at Lions Park,” said Angie Hales, a Business Account Specialist who plays on a co-ed softball team, “I played there last Saturday and it was great to hear other teams saying how nice and safe it is now.”
