Silver Star Communications Featured as Wyoming Success Story

Governor Matt Mead held the 29th annual business forum November 15th and 16th in Cheyenne. The forum was titled “Wyoming: Economic Assets and Business Operations”. There were 21 businesses around the state selected to share their success stories along with national renowned speakers from the World Bank, MidAmerican Energy Holdings, Pfizer, among others.
Silver Star Communications was selected and named by the Governor as one of the top 20 companies in technology in the state over the last 20 years. On November 16th Silver Star’s President/CEO, Allen Hoopes, had the opportunity to share on the company’s background, strengths, challenges, and future goals. Silver Star Communications is a family owned company and has been providing telecommunications services since 1948. The original vision of providing locals with connection to technology carries through today. Not only does Silver Star provide local solutions, they have recently been working on a fiber optic project co-funded by NTIA (the National Telecommunications Information Administration) that will aid in connecting people around the State of Wyoming.
Some key points that Hoopes mentioned in regards to Silver Star’s success is that the company recognizes the constant need for change and does so by continuously researching and delivering new technologies to their customers. The employees at Silver Star are another key factor to the company’s success. Hoopes mentioned that for a company to succeed they need to be surrounded by great people and that the employees at Silver Star were exactly that, and without them the company would not be what they are. Silver Star prides itself on having the local market knowledge to provide residents with needed technology services and local customer service.
Hoopes recognizes that in order for Silver Star to be a success, the company must operate sustainably mindful of the economic, social and environmental impacts of their business decisions. Silver Star invests significantly in the communities they serve, as well as their employees. Because the company has a defined geographic serving area, they know that their success is reliant on the health of their communities.
