Silver Star closes Alpine and Victor stores - 7/30/2009
Freedom, WY -- July 30, 2009 – Silver Star Communications made a decision late last week to close stores in Alpine, WY and Victor, ID on August 29, 2009. Since the stores opened in 2006, Silver Star’s executives have met quarterly to review walk-in traffic patterns at each of the locations. The walk-in traffic at the two stores has not increased enough to justify staying open. Silver Star’s four other locations in Afton, Thayne, Jackson, and Driggs remain busy and open.
Ron McCue, COO of Silver Star Communications, stated “With the economy as it has been, we are of course looking at all of our operations very closely, so we may make smart decisions that will ensure a strong future for Silver Star. When we opened these stores we thought there was enough demand in these towns to justify the additional locations, but that hasn’t been the case.” McCue went on to say that “The majority of our customers are visiting our other stores or they are interacting with us through our website for product information and customer support. We hope to have some type of presence in these towns and if the demand should rise enough in the future, we will certainly look at opening another store.”
In the meantime, customers may sign up for online billing on Silver Star’s website, www.silverstar.com. Online billing is easy to use, convenient, and environmentally friendly. The website is also interactive and informative allowing for account access, credit card pay and automatic draft, customer service chat service, technical support, email and junk mail filter access, and information on products such as Internet Digital TV service, and money saving packages. Visitors to the site will also find Information on the company’s continued commitment to community and sustainability initiatives.
Silver Star will continue to explore options for some type of presence in each of these communities which may entail payment drop off locations. Barbara Sessions Sales Manager for Silver Star PCS, the company’s wireless phone division, also stated “We want to continue providing easy access to all of our services and products, especially our wireless phone and Internet service. We are currently looking for alternatives such as dealer opportunities and co-locations inside other businesses.”
